Stranger than Fiction

前陣子朋友在facebook放了這段電影裡的quote
這段文字在目前日復一日的無聊工作中顯得相當有意義
陷在一個地方的當下
我所需要的就是一些日常生活中的種種小事來"拯救"

還好有音樂
上周三晚上震耳欲聾的In Flames演唱會
或是我一再重複聆聽的Yellow Ledbetter的吉他前奏
還好有一杯好咖啡
還好有春摘大吉嶺
還好有塞滿冰箱的可樂
還好有Monocle
還好有伊坂幸太郎
還好有幾部好電影

就在哈洛咬一口巴伐利亞甜餅時，他終於覺得一切都會沒事了。
有時，當我們迷失在恐懼與失落、在日復一日一陳不變的作息、在絕望和悲傷中，
我們可以感謝上帝賜與我們巴伐利亞甜餅。
如果手邊沒有甜餅，我們仍然有幸能從身旁熟悉的手得到肯定、
或仁慈友善的表示、或隱約的鼓舞、或愛的擁抱、或他人的安慰。
當然還要感謝醫院的輪床、鼻栓、丹麥酥餅、輕柔耳語，和芬德電吉他，
偶爾閱讀的小說也能撫慰我們的心。
我們必須要記得的是所有細微、異常、微妙的小事，
我們以為只是來妝點生活的小事，
其實有著更偉大更高貴的意義：它們是來拯救我們的。
我知道這聽起來很怪，但我知道這是真的：一只手錶救了哈洛。

As Harold took a bite of Bavarian sugar cookie,
he finally felt as if everything was going to be okay.
Sometimes, when we lose ourselves in fear and despair, in routine and constancy, in hopelessness and tragedy, we can thank God for Bavarian Sugar cookies.
And fortunately, when there aren't any cookies, we can still find reassurance in a familiar hand on our skin, or a kind and loving gesture, or a subtle encouragement, or a loving embrace, or an offer of comfort. Not to mention hospital gurneys, and nose plugs, and uneaten Danish, and soft-spoken secrets, and Fender Stratocasters, and maybe the occasional piece of fiction.
And we must remember that all these things the nuances, the anomalies, the subtleties which we assume only accessorize our days are, in fact, here for a much larger and nobler cause: They are here to save our lives.
I know the idea seems strange.
But I also know that it just so happens to be true.
And so it was: A wristwatch saved Harold Crick.
